President Obama
announced yesterday that he will nominate Jack Lew to take over for Peter Orszag as Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
In his current position, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Lew plays a key role in advocating for the International Affairs Budget and has been instrumental in the Administration’s robust funding requests for FY10 and FY11. In his statement, President Obama noted that Lew left a $237 billion surplus when he served as OMB Director under President Clinton and said, “I have no doubt that Jack has proven himself equal to this extraordinary task.” Orszag is scheduled to leave OMB on July 30.
