WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) and Cargill are launching a new Executive Roundtable series focused on America’s agriculture and international affairs programs and the critical role they play in strengthening American global leadership, helping to create jobs, feeding the hungry, and reducing poverty across the Midwest and around the world. The series will bring a diverse set of community stakeholders together – from elected officials and business leaders to non-profit organizations and community leaders – and is part of the USGLC’s ongoing Heartland partnership with Cargill.
“When businesses partner with nonprofits and the U.S. government on our international programs through forums like the USGLC Executive Roundtable series – together we can make a real impact. As a global company, Cargill has a responsibility to invest in global development, to help ensure farmers have access to markets, and to move food from places of surplus to places where it is deficient,” said Michelle Grogg, Cargill’s Vice President for Corporate Responsibility. “At a time when agricultural exports are vital to sustaining local economies, supporting American jobs and nourishing people, we’re pleased to partner with the USGLC on this series to showcase how America’s leadership abroad strengthens our agricultural economy and national security.”
“We are thrilled to launch this local discussion with Cargill, whose tremendous efforts as our Heartland Chair have already engaged countless business, community, and agriculture leaders in the Midwest on the importance of America’s global engagement,” said USGLC President and CEO Liz Schrayer. “These conversations get to the heart of the USGLC – what happens globally matters locally and affects our nation’s health, economic, and security interests. We look forward to convening these events virtually in the coming months and to drawing powerful, local connections to these global issues across America’s heartland.”
Over the next year, this virtual series will engage elected officials, community leaders, and business and non-profit executives across 13 states and spark conversations on how America’s global engagement impacts the health, economy, and security of local communities.
Cargill has served as USGLC’s Heartland Chair since June 2019.
