Barbara Leaf is the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs.

Ms. Leaf re-joins the State Department from a position as Special Assistant to the President and as Senior Director for Middle East and North Africa Affairs on the National Security Council, having previously served as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Arabian Peninsula.
