Deliver Georgetown School of Nursing & Health Studies Commencement Speech

Green to receive honorary degree

Washington, DC — Former U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania and Wisconsin Congressman Mark Green will deliver the commencement speech to Georgetown University’s School of Nursing and Health Studies Class of 2012 on Saturday, May 19^th at noon.  In recognition of his achievements as an advocate for global health, Ambassador Green will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

Ambassador Green represented the eighth district of Wisconsin in Congress from 1999 to 2007, where he worked on many critical local, national, and international issues. He also played a leading role in crafting important foreign policy initiatives such as the Millennium Challenge Act and the U.S. Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Act. President George W. Bush then nominated Green as U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania, where he served from 2007 to 2009. Green has continued his commitment to global health, managing the Malaria No More Policy Center, and he is now Senior Director at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition.
