The USGLC applauds the vision in the
draft version of the Presidential Study Directive on Global Development that calls for elevating development as a central pillar of U.S. national security equal to diplomacy and defense. A U.S. Global Development Strategy reviewed by the President and stronger partnerships between the Legislative and Executive Branches on development issues are essential for ensuring that U.S. development efforts are effective, accountable, and have a significant impact on the ground. We look forward to the PSD co-chairs, General James Jones and Larry Summers, publically releasing the document in the near future and working to quickly implement the far reaching strategic goals.
