USGLC Saddened by the Death of Warren Christopher

Washington, DC —The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition released this statement from Executive Director Liz Schrayer on the passing of former Secretary of State Warren Christopher:
“Warren Christopher was a trusted friend and advisor to the USGLC for many years, and his passing is a loss for all Americans. As a member of our Advisory Council, Secretary Christopher was instrumental in helping make the case for why the International Affairs Budget is such a critical part of our national security.”

“As a well respected voice, Christopher played a pivotal role on these issues. Just a month after the 2004 Presidential election, Christopher joined former Secretary of State James Baker in authoring an opinion editorial in The Washington Post to powerfully demonstrate bipartisan support for the International Affairs Budget. They wrote, ‘The strategies promoted by the International Affairs Budget are essential tools in the fight against global terrorism, against the spread of weapons of mass destruction and our efforts to promote global stability.’”

“During his time at Foggy Bottom, Christopher was a true champion for American diplomacy and global development, and we will miss his wise advice and counsel in the years to come.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Secretary Christopher’s family and loved ones.”
