WASHINGTON – The USGLC released the following statements on the introduction of a three-bill package of national security emergency funding bills in the House of Representatives:
Statement from Liz Schrayer, President and CEO, U.S. Global Leadership Coalition
With American interests and security at stake as threats from Russia, Iran, and China are increasingly coordinated, the USGLC welcomes Speaker Johnson bringing a comprehensive emergency funding package to the House floor to support Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan – and meet the escalating global humanitarian needs.
The combined resources included in these three bills reflect the reality that growing instability in the world directly impacts Americans here at home and underscore the chorus of voices – from the military, business, faith, and NGO communities alongside bipartisan Members of Congress – who have been calling for America to lead.
The USGLC urges Congress to swiftly pass this funding package and opposes any efforts to cut critical economic and humanitarian resources. Time is of the essence and we can’t afford to wait another day for action.
Statement from General Anthony Zinni (Ret.) and Admiral James Stavridis (Ret.)
The global threats from Russia, Iran, and China have never been this complex or coordinated against the United States and our citizens. The series of packages put forward by Speaker Johnson to support Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan – including crucial economic and global humanitarian assistance – are mission critical to support our allies and partners, defend our interests, and protect our homeland.
The United States of America cannot blink on the global stage. We urge Congress to pass these essential national security resources and to do so swiftly.
General Zinni and Admiral Stavridis serve as the Co-Chairs of USGLC’s National Security Advisory Council, which brings together more than 260 retired three- and four-star retired generals and admirals.
